"Ken Sharp's "Play On! Power Pop Heroes, Volume 1" is an intimate look at a timeless musical genre and features lively discussions with the titans who helped shape it. An unabashed power pop fan as well as a fan of all the musicians involved, Ken knows just the right questions to ask musical luminaries such as Brian Wilson, Pete Townshend, Ray Davies, Jeff Lynne, Ringo Starr, and members of Big Star, Badfinger and Raspberries, to name just a few. Can't wait for volumes 2 and 3!"
"The story of power pop, as told by the very artists who created power pop in the first place? You can't ask for more of a first-hand account than that, and it's delivered in jangly, crunchy spades. I am delighted to be among the children of millions who wait for Volumes Two and Three. Essential? Catchy? FUN? Yeah, yeah, yeah!"
Jam packed with all the essential bands that were at the forefront of the 'power pop' genre...sure to please power pop aficionados! Once you start, it's hard to put down. Ken asks all the interesting questions that get into the meat and poteatoes of what makes this genre so special. My money was well spent, great job Ken! I can't wait to read the next two volumes..."
This is four months of bathroom reading. The Greatest Collection of Rock Interviews of All Time? Could be! What I did was grab several bands that meant a lot to me and that I thought I had a decent grasp on their histories...just to see how much Ken Sharp could dig out of them that would surprise me. I devoured the Hllies and the Move chapters and had my mind blown by the amount of fabulous nuggets of information and insight Ken got out of these guys.
"Volume 1" sold out, at the time of its printing - just like "Volume 2" will very soon! It's possible there may be a very small re-print of "Volume 1" later in the year. If you want to be notified of if that happens, just email me at: firstname.lastname@example.org.

"These people ARE my power pop heroes, and to hear in their own words the stories behind some of my all-time favorite songs - priceless. Ken has hit upon a great format - first a Q&A chapter with the band/artist followed by an "On the Record" chapter where specific songs are discussed in detail. This is a must have for musicians and fans of power pop since the arrival of the Beatles. Can't wait for Volume Two!"
"Quite the read! Lots of great info in here! As a fan of virtually all of the bands interviewed, it was really great to see behind the scenes and get a feel for what these artists went through and felt while creating some of my favorite music! I'm really looking forward to reading Volumes 2 and 3 to see how Power Pop and all it's variations continues to expand and thrive."
"Whether you're a songwriter, singer, instrumentalist, fan or all of the above, you will love Ken Sharp's "Play On! Power Pop Heroes." Prodded by Sharp's succinct observations, pop-pantheon Gods from George Martin to Eric Carmen reveal the genesis of hit songs and forgotten gems, and it's amazing to discover the range of inspiration--sometimes divine, sometimes pedestrian happenstance--that led to the sounds we live our lives by. You'll read a few pages and find yourself listening to old favorites with an expanded appreciation. I thought I knew my stuff when it came to the Beatles/Big Star galaxy, but I've learned so much more from this amazing book."

"Volume 1" was big 'n heavy at 520 pages. "Volume 2" is a LOT bigger - it's like two-books-in-one! Why? Because it's 776 pages! WHOA! Shipping/Handling for the United States is $7.50 and for orders outside of the United States it is $25.00 - which is the actual cost to ship the book from the U.S. Postal Service. "Volume 2" will be around 3 ounces heavier than the first one which bumped it up to a higher level.

"Here's why everyone who loves 'Power Pop' should buy Ken Sharp's "PLAY ON! Power Pop Heroes" books: Pete Townshend wasn't the ONLY guitarist on "I Can't Explain," Jimmy Page also played on it. This is just one of a thousand amazing facts contained in "Volume 1". " Go get a copy - you won't be sorry! The book is sensational!"
"PLAY ON! Power Pop Heroes" is the best & most entertaining collection of interviews with my musical heroes that I've ever read. It's a must-read for anybody who loves pop music...I'm loving Volume 1 of "Power Pop Heroes"! Stayed up way too late last night reading the chapters on the Who, the Zombies and the Hollies! Not to mention the great chapters on Ringo and George Martin..."
"This is Power Pop Archaeology at its finest. Defining the genre that is known as 'Power Pop' is about as hard as it gets. I doubt that I will ever hear two people completely agree. Ken Sharp's take is unique and enlightening as he digs to the foundation."
And the last time I'll hit ya over the head and say....IN ORDER TO GET THE ALL THE BONUSES LISTED ABOVE, it's time for you to pre-order. :-)
